AYB Patron & renowned jazz drummer John Morrison
former members of the Australian Youth Band!
This year, the Australian Youth Band is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and to honour this wonderful achievement, we welcome you to the band’s 2019 Annual Concert. This performance will feature our current young musicians showcasing their talent, plus also many ex-members who will join the band on stage, playing a wonderful selection of music from various genres.
The Australian Youth Band (AYB) is the premier youth performance ensemble in Victoria and continues to captivate audiences around Melbourne and Victoria, interstate and on the international stage. The band performs as a symphonic concert band as well as a fully-equipped marching band with an American-style Drumline. The band’s repertoire ranges from serious symphonic and contemporary works, to dynamic march charts and popular show tunes.
Our recent performance highlights include the annual Melbourne Anzac Day March and Australia Day Parade, Morning Melodies performances at Hamer Hall with the band’s patron, Rhonda Burchmore OAM, and a concert tour to China where the band represented Australia with performances at the Shanghai Tourism Festival.
